The Leftovers Season 1: Trailer #1 (HBO)

'Some Bad Shit's Coming'

Damon Lindelof's HBO drama The Leftovers has its first full-length trailer.

Bits and pieces have been doled out about the series via atmospheric teasers, but the latest footage -- debuting before Sunday's Game of Thrones -- offers a more complete look at the post-apocalyptic series. Based on the Tom Perrotta novel, The Leftovers begins three years after 2 percent of the Earth's population disappears without explanation (aka the Rapture) and focuses on the people who didn't make the cut living in a changed world.

"It's time again for the world to mourn the departed," the trailer opens as the remaining inhabitants on Earth have settled into a lazy haze years later, with many coming around on the fact that they will never return. The town of Mapleton even holds a parade in remembrance of the event and unveils a new statue in its honor. "We still wonder where they went and why," becomes the town's unanswered question.

Meanwhile, the faux serenity is about to be challenged: "Some bad shit's coming and there's no getting around it. Grace period's over," warns one. Things go from bad to worse (just look at the cult!) as the town's chief of police (Justin Theroux) soon discovers: "Nobody's ready to feel better, they're ready to f---ing explode." It being HBO and all, expect plenty of violence, nudity and sex.

Amy Brenneman, Carrie Coon, Christopher Eccleston, Chris Zylka, Ann Dowd, Liv Tyler, Michael Gaston, Charlie Carver, Max Carver, Emily Meade, Amanda Warren and Margaret Qually also star.
